7500 Router IOS upgrade Procedure

Procedure : We will do the IOS upgradation via Fast software upgrade procedure to minimise the downtime


Here are the steps :



1 ) copy the image to disk0:

copy tftp disk0:

2) copy the image from disk0: to slavedisk0:

copy disk0:s72033-adventerprise9_wan-mz.122-18.SXE6.bin slavedisk0:

3) set the boot statement

boot system flash disk0:s72033-adventerprisek9_wan-mz.122-18.SXE6.bin

4 ) Reset the standby supervisor module (slot 6 )

hw-module module 6 reset

it will reload standby supervisor and standby will come up with new image(SXE6)

Note : it wil ltake around 8-9 mins


5) write mem

6 ) Force Switchover to secondry supervisror

redundancy force-switchover

7 ) It will make slot 6 Active , Slot 5 will automatically reboot and come up with new image

Note : during switchover to slot 6 all the line card will reboot and downtime of around 90 Seconds will be reported


8 ) write mem
